Making calls to and from hospital bed

My sister was recently in hospital and over the few days she was a patient it cost me over £20 to make 53mins worth of calls to her bedside phone. Works out at over 37ppmin. In the 'good old days' the staff would wheel over a phone on a trolley and the call would cost no more than payphone rates for outgoing, and the person phoning in would pay normal landline rates. The companies operating these new systems are exploiting a captive market - isn't it time to start a campaign to stop these rip-off prices? Bear in mind that mobiles are banned in hospitals.

Yeah they do charge a premium for these phones. Mind you, I use my mobile phone while i was in hospital as long as i was in a ward where no electrical equipments were nearby, or i was capable to walk outside the wards. I would not pay those rates that the companies charges. The time that i did spent in the hospital, I also bring in my own tv as they charge a premium rate for that too.
