Its called doing what gets you re-elected. That is keep over 35% of the population happy and let apathy and the democratic process do the rest for you.

You imply that you prefer engaged demagogues. Excuse me if I pass on that BobQ.

I doubt if that 35% of the population includes anyone under the age of 35!

This so called recovery favours the 'haves' and those who are happy to increase their debt!

In 2015 33% of people aged 25-34 voted Tory compared to 36% for Labour. For people aged 18-24 it was 27% compared to 46%. Turnout was much lower in those groups compared to older age groups.

If you carry on posting factual information like that, I'm going to be out of a job.:)

Of course, I could point out that the thing about being 'under 35' is that, sooner or later, you inevitably end up being over 35. And start voting Tory. Usually somewhere around the point at which you realise that when all those leftish demagogues are spouting on about 'taxing the rich' , they actually mean you.:)

Funnily enough 35 to 44 year old vote Tory and Labour in equal numbers 35% and 45 to 54 year olds are the reverse of 25 to 34 olds.

    How do we know this?

The opinion pollsters have only just in the last couple of days come up with excuses why they don't know how to do their job properly, they'd inadvertently misjudged selection of the groups they were polling.

So for example it might have been easier for them to target young people using social media than ringing me up at 1915 on a Friday evening and rudely commanding me to give them 20 minutes of my time, and being told to get lost.

The figures are based on exit polls which proved to be accurate.

Yep those statistics show the tories look after those who vote for them! - those who 'have' already accumulated their wealth!

This is twaddle. If the rich voted Tory and the poor voted Labour there'd never be another Tory Government.

Actually plenty of rich people vote Labour; Corbynistas, the new members to have joined around the time of and after Mr Corbyn's election, tend to be wealthy, educated and urban.

Maggie Thatchers victories were often ascribed to her success in courting 'Essex Man', the working classes of the home counties.

This idea that the put upon plebs vote Labour out of altruism and the high and mighty vote Tory, and get kick-backs as a result is silly and insulting to boot!
