LBC to wrong address

Dear All,

I had a parking charge in June which I did not pay. Then I moved from my old house.
Yesterday my old landlord asked me to come and collect some letters.
One of these letters was the letter before claim to court from gladstones solicitor which dated in November 2015.
They stated that if I don't pay the outstanding amount within 14 days, they will take me to court.

Unfortunately as I receive this letter too late I missed the deadline.
I don't know what I shall do now. Contact them for settlement or ask them what is happening.

Please tell me your advice.

Check that they haven't already won a CCJ by default against you.
  • How can I check if they won CCJ? Call them?

If they did, can I appeal?

    Don't engage with them

Use one of the credit rating companies to see if you have a ccj against you (eg Experian/noddle etc)

If you have a CCJ registered against you didn't know anything about you can apply to the court for a set aside.

(If they have won a CCJ by default then it's possible it's too soon to see if it has hit your credit record - you get 30 days to pay up before it gets onto your record)

I checked my credit history. No CCJ.
I also called my old landlord. No new letters.

What shall I do? shall I call Gladstone solicitors and settle this problem?

In order to avoid papers being sent to old address and a default judgement leading to a CCJ, you must inform them in writing, with a free certificate of posting, of your new address.

No, how about Googling Gladstones Letter before Claim? Here's one of hundreds of postings on relevant expert forums like pepipoo.com:

And tell us which PPC this was?

All acronyms are explained in the NEWBIES thread at the top of the forum which explains about small claims stage, if they try. You should have read that thread already because it is a 'sticky' info thread headed 'please read these FAQs first'. Shame you didn't read it when you got the PCN instead of ignoring it.

    DO NOT RING

DO NOT JUST PAY OR SETTLE.

Tell us who this is, the PPC. Read the links and search this forum for 'GLADSTONES' as a keyword. Shedloads of threads to learn from to learn what sort of robust response to make.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • Thanks for your replies.

PPC Parking solution 24 Ltd and is part of BPA.

I did read many threads. It is quiet difficult to make up what to do.
Some said they won, some said Gladstone won.
Most people engaged with part of appeal process.

I missed appeal stage to POPLA because I moved homes and never got the letters.

I wonder whether I should write to PPC asking for POPLA code or even appeal to POPLA directly.

I feel Gladstone is absolute joke. My worry is that I don't want to get to court as I am applying to mortgage soon and don't want to have CCJ.
