PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Leafleting to privately buy a house?

Forgot to add - do you already have a property to sell? If you are renting, you will be in a much stronger position than someone who needs to sell theirs before they can move. If this means that there isn't a 'chain' you will be a more attractive purchaser.
The last time I bought a house in the UK was 28 years ago, but in the US buyers are considered to be in a strong position if they have pre-qualified ie. They can prove that they will be allowed a mortgage and that they can afford to purchase the property....I am sure there is something similar in the UK, but perhaps you can assure any prospective vendors that you have (hopefully) an excellent credit rating and that arranging a mortgage should not be a problem.0 -
Sorry I am having problems editing (I guess because I have only just signed up to MSE) but personally I wouldn't list my address on Facebook - too much information out there, if a deal went wrong they could post up nasty comments or go fishing for more information about yourself than you are comfortable with.
I would also set up a new e-mail address on say, Yahoo or gmail and include that in your leaflet...just remember to check it daily!0 -
I'd just put a mobile number and ask anyone to text you.
I had a note through the door and a few weeks later our buyers dropped out, so I sent a text "are you still looking and are you in a position to move quickly"I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
