samsung d900 - have unlock code but can't enter it

Hi all
My husband has a samsung d900 locked to Virgin. We requested an unlock code from them which arrived today. It says to insert a non Virgin sim which I have done, it then asks for the code. The code is in the format #0000*00000000# but as soon as I enter the first # it says code too short and won't let me enter anything else. Would appreciate any help.

not sure if this would work but did a quick search and codes for samsung start with a star * not a hash #0

Tried that but it didn't work either but thanks for trying. I might have to email Virgin to see if they can help.0 -
just enter the eigth digit code, no * and #'s.
eg for:
#0000*99999999#
just enter 99999999
