Confusion over Virgin abroad?

Options
Can someone explain this to me. Usually I wouldn't need to use my mobile abroad, other than on wifi. But the golf trip we are on we all need data to input our scores into this leaderboard app.

Anyway:

on Virgins site it says you can buy a travel pass which is £6 for 50MB. It says: Browsing online. (Of course, if you’re travelling in the EU, all you pay for is the cost of your Travel Pass – and you’re all set!). I spoke to Virgin and they said that they will warn you when you get to 70% etc of your limit.

I also questioned what happens if I don't buy a travel pass, the woman on the phone said it was £1 for 100MB per day.

Surely it is therefore more cost effective not to buy the pass? I would get 600MB compared to 50MB under the travel pass?

Confused. Can anyone help?
