just a few cuts and bruises for me.

  • In terms of pain:

    1) Dry socket after tooth extraction

    2) Chilblain on my toes

I would rather die than go through the excruciating pain again...

    If we're referring to pain
    1. Colic - yep, as an adult ... not fun. Now I know why babies scream.
    2. Sinusitis - Absolutely excruciating. No amount of painkillers would ease the pain.

If we are talking on a pain level then these:

-surgery for spina bifida the year before last to decompress my spinal cord as it was being crushed by a lump of tissue. Scar most of the length of my back. Waiting on having this re done now as the tissue is re growing and starting to press on my cord again (coukdnt remove all of it as they'll paralyse me). So will need this repeating as necessary. The nerve damage and compression has given me really bad sciatica that is so much worse than the surgery was. The two things that hurt the most actually weren't the scar itself but having my spinal drain took out, and having two stitches out in where it was without any local, my surgeon said by the time he'd injected me to put in a local I might as well have had the two needle pricka for the two stitches, which was fair enough. Still hurt like hell though! And the infection caused by the catheter in my blwdder, the bladder spasms were excruiating and so bad they were forcing urine out around the catheter. It was the worst thing I think I've ever experienced. I never want a bladder spasm again.
    - arthritis in my ankle that resulted in needing an ankle fusion at the age of 21, they took my joint out, slapped the two bone ends together with a few screws.
    - Aldo got a nasty infection because of the negligence of a podiatrist which meant I had my big toe amputated in the end as even iv antibiotics couldn't reverse the damage. This was the least painful of the 3.

Otherwise I've been fairly lucky and haven't had any bad accidents or anything, if we are talking purely accidents then it would be when I fainted and out two teeth through my top lip. That was pretty sore, bled like mad and took ages to heal, I still have a ball of scar tissue in my top lip.

To be honest though, I would rather have surgery any day than deal with the flu I had last year and the nasty cold I've had recently... I am a wimp with anything cold/flu related, I hate it! With surgery morphine deals with most of the pain, there's not a lot that makes cold or flu less hell! I also find I enjoy my time off when I have surgery reading, watching telly etc, as long as I've had pain medication. With a nasty bug you can't enjoy your time off and you feel too awful to do anything and even sleep is difficult. Ugh. I'll take surgery any day over colds and flu!

Funny it didn't hurt too much when it happened, just felt something go and felt really weird.

Dry socket pain after tooth extraction is awful as are dental abcesses.

Caesarean section done while awake and under epidural was not too bad.

Pneumonia and a blood clot in each lung was just about the worst of the lot.

I have had sciatica which was really bad.
Probably the worst was an Ovarian torsion, I have never felt pain ike it.
I was left for days too due to awful service at A&E and no GP service due to it being a bank holiday.

Waking up after a laparoscopy and finding out the hard way that the anaesthetist hadn't given me any IV painkillers before bringing me round

Heart valve surgery , very painful when you try to sleep on your side for the first 6 weeks or when you cough and sneeze ,still hurts 6 months later
  • Rotator Cuff being separated was quite bad, broken collar bone - then carrying on playing rugby and making a tackle with a compound fracture was quite painful!

I have broken my jaw, cheek bone, lacerated eye, broken collar bone x4 , broken ribs, broken hand, multiple finger breaks.

The by product of downhill mountain biking, Muay Thai and Rugby as hobbies!!
