I have some niggly problems with my computer (one of them being sonic update manager) and I have run various free health checks which generally find 100's and even 1000's of errors with my computer. They alway end up by saying if you want to repair these errors you need to BUY our package !!!
I dont actually mind paying for a package but was just wondering if any one knows which ones are kosha and is there a free alternative.
Any help with the sonic update manger which tries to open whenever I turn my computer on and asks for a disc to be inserted which I dont have, would be much appreciated

There are some relevant links to be found that might help you with sonic...
Google search sonic upload manager
It might be as simple as using Add remove programs via your control panel - but if not, there's enough on that search result by the looks of it.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Actually...
I used a nifty add on that does a google search from highlighted text - and you have a typo with manager spelled without the second "a".
Correcting this in the search box gives the top (non sponsored) answer linking to a forum with lots of help. Read it through because the first solution may not be the best for you in your own circumstances.

All programs that run at startup are listed in 1 of 2 places. Click Start>Programs>Startup if the sonic update manager is listed there then you can delete it by right clicking on it and that will prevent it from running at startup.
The other place is in the configuration manager. Hold your windows key down and press R. type msconfig in and press enter. You can then select the startup tab and there will be a list of the other programs windows runs at startup. You need to be more careful with these and only remove the tick from the checkbox if you are sure that you do not want that program to run. Removing things that you are uncertain as to what they are could cause your computer to stop working.Looking to set up a website. Use PM for the best prices.0 -

fully working 30 day trial , run "1-click" maintenance a few times once installed
also ccleaner (crapcleaner) has an Issues button which does the same , but I'd go with Tune-up first

some Dells had problems with Sonic asking for the CD, there was a "patch" on Dells site and I suspect on SonicsEx forum ambassador

I never trust online scanners as they'll most likely inflate the number of problems just to get you to buy the software.
Something like CCleaner is worth having that will clean up your cookies and temp files etc. It will also repair your registry too. The best thing is CCleaner is totally free and recommended by many on the forum. CCleaner will do virtually everything that "System Optimizing" software will do but for free.Lack of money is the root of all evil.

Thank you to ever1's help.
Am suppose to be doing my degress thesis but at some point today I will have a rest and implement some of my new knowledge. I am not very computer savy but will do my best and let you know how I get on or, more likely, if I have any problems.
Thank you0 -
I agree CC is a great tool. Gets rid of most of the rubbish. System Mechanic can also tune up your system. Link make sure you get the freebie System Mechanic 6.
