Living social deal company gone bust

Hi,
Sorry this is a long story!
I purchased some braces through a company on living social I had my initial appointment to assess if my teeth were suitable which they were and my voucher was redeemed. However I was informed I needed several fillings before they could put my brace on, I did this through my regular dentist and this took some time. I then made another appointment with the company I had bought my braces from which was going to be after Christmas. The day before my appointment I had a voicemail saying it had been cancelled due to the business staying closed for another week after Christmas due to "business registration issues". She also said I would receive a call on the 18th of Jan to rearrange an appointment. The call never came, I have contacted them and they said that "all appointments will be fulfilled as it is a legal requirement". So I did some digging and it looks like they have gone out of buissness and there are a lot of people who have been waiting a long time for money back. Does anyone know if they are likely to fulfill this or am I likely to get anything back? Also I bought this on a credit card does that offer any protection?
Thanks for any advice

Hi, welcome to the forums.
Who is the 'they' you mention several times?
Living social or 'the company'?0 -
Hi,
They are Pure Clinic, they are a dentist with clinics in Manchester and London who seem to sell loads of things on living social and groupon.0 -
Unfortunately this is a common problem. Dentistry does not have the profit margins for group on type deals and many have had problems with braces purchased and then surgeries going bust.
In general you should only ever see an orthodontist who has been recommended and never buy dentistry on price.
You are going to be the last in a long line of creditors so you will not get money back. You will not get treatment as it has not been started and even those who have started treatment may find they have to pay again for another orthodontist to finish treatment. You may be better off trying the credit card route. Section 75 claim. Here is but one thread from someone in a similar situation . There are many others if you search https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/47414520 -
I'm sure you've seen this with many people having similar problems with pure https://www.aspokesmansaid.com/complaint/5600675d5f65dc1814121a8d/pure-clinic--or-pure-hell-#comments
Always have a recommendation or preferably a referral from your dentist for an orthodontist if you are considering braces. Never buy on price .0 -
Company now has appeared on radio four consumer programme this morning.
Serves as a warning do not buy dentistry on price but by recommendation . There is not the profit margin in dentistry to offer "cut price" deals.0
