I have received some blurb from SellQuick and would like to know how reliable they are. There must be a catch as you don't get anything for nothing these days! They claim to be hassle-free and no fee. Is this too good to be true?

What do you think that SellQuick would do that you couldn't do yourself? If you price the property correctly then you too can get a quick sale. Alternatively you could just put it up for auction.0

there are hundreds of posts asking about quick sale company abc or xyz Ltd
the answer to everyone of those posts is the same - very few positive answers from those who have actually used such companies and lots of disapproval from those who haven't because they were sensible enough to price it for sale in the first place and therefore had no need of such [STRIKE]scammers[/STRIKE] companies0 -
Here's an example of the model used by many quick-sale companies:
1) A house is on the market with an EA at £125k
- with no interest, probably because it's overpriced. The seller is getting desperate, possibly in financial difficuly.
2) the quick-sale company say they will sell it at 80% of market value.
3) the quick-sale co's valuer says the market value of the property is £100k
- so the seller signs a legal agreement (an option) agreeing to sell it for £80k
4) the quick-sale co quickly find a buyer at £100k
5) The seller gets £80k, the quick sale co get £20k
But... had the seller just reduced the price to £100k with the EA, it would have sold just as quickly...
... and the seller would have kept the whole £100k, instead of just getting £80k.0 -

You were doing so well just till the very last sentence. You need to pay the EA his fee, probably about £1,500 to £2,000, so you only receive £98,000 and a bit less after solicitor fees.
But you're correct on thes we-buy-any-home merchants, the buy at 50% value of the house if they can

They will arrange an appointment to come to view your property, make a very low offer or no offer at all and then spend their time convincing you to sign up with their estate agency business.
