If your 27 year old son is into lego rather than booze, drugs and wasting money, then I take my hat off to you! Even if he is 27!! :T

The fact that he can find enjoyment in the little things in life (scuse the pun! ) is great!! Hopefully he can one day pass that ability onto his kids!

:rotfl: lol, yes I agree with you.

His social life consisits of going to Games Workshop and Weapons Training (knocking the sh*t out of someone else with a plastic sword,) with the occasional foray into computer games. Occasionally he and his mates will go to a pub and drink a couple of pints.

He found a new girlfriend a few weeks ago and can't believe his luck that she loves playing with toy soldiers and x-box! :rotfl:

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Hey thanks, you've all made me laugh, I thought it was just my son who loved these things!

Pulliptears, he would LOVE an Atat - he had one when he was little and is always blaming me for giving it away!

I wanted one as a kid but wasnt allowed. I was an only child and mum wanted me to be "girly". Of course it didnt work and by the time I was in my teens I was a geek. I read and collected comics (still do!), I was into robots and art, I wore black, had blue hair. You get the idea!!

My husband wanted the Falcon but didnt get it either, so when our 9 year old DD became utterly obsessed with Star Wars we both stopped and said "Aha!"

So, we bought the toys we wanted as kids, and our DD plays with them. We also play with them under the guise of playing with her....:o

    Sad, yet so much fun!

    Love it!

My son had a Milennium Falcon too!.

We have recently returned from a month in the UK visiting him. Guess which film I had to waste my Orange Wednesday deal on?...yes, that's right - Transformers!

Hey, I now know all about Optimus Prime....

I was a little too old for transformers at the time, but still I saw the film!

This growing up thing is very overrated you know! Ive always been of the opinion parents should have a little fun with their kids.

My parents were old when they had me, and they didnt really believe in anything other than sitting playing a game of guess who. We didnt do daft things like play battles on the floor, they didnt chase me round the house and throw me in the bath fully clothed (DD was in hysterics, fun, but messy), we didnt go to rock concerts and camp at rock festivals. We didnt playfight, ride scooters that were too small and fall off skateboards (yes it hurt!).

Our home is madness. Our kids are wonderful, well rounded individuals who can talk to us about anything. We have fun :D

my 29year ild hubby was chuffed last week when his parent gave him a helicopter that flies by remote control! he had it half an hour and it had gone over the fence - i laughed my head off and told him to knock at the neighbours door to ask for it back!!! :rotfl:

(he wouldnt though so he just snuck in and got it)

boys never grow out of toys do they
  • Pulliptears your family sounds great fun!

My parents were 'old' too, in their 40s, but I never felt I was missing out, and actually I am quite reserved in that way, so I think it suited me.

emma_B, a friend of ours has a long weekend at his house every year for his mates (my husband used to go before we went to live in Spain). He lives on the south coast and thy windsurf, swim, sail, powerboat, play beach volleyball, cycle on Beachy Head....they call it Big Boys Toys!
