Fine, so as someone who used to sell insurance I retreated into the old name, but the advice is still accurate even if the Financial Services Authority has ben replaced by the FOS...

It's not accurate at all. The FSA was replaced by the FCA and neither dealt/deal with consumer complaints. Telling someone to complain to the FCA (or FSA as was) is pointless.
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.
  • Hi everyone,

Unfortunately the saga continues! I have complained to RAC who are investigating my complaint and phoned me yesterday. They said that they have checked the CUE database and are adament that Tesco have I putted the my twin sisters claim under my name. They told me to contact Tesco and ask them to amend the database entry. I emailed Tesco today and they have sent me two screenshots from the CUE database. One showing that I have had no claims and another showing that my twin sister has one claim. Therefore, I'm right in thinking that RAC are totally incompetent and have made an error.

This whole situation has caused me such stress and upset and I am at the end of my tether with it! After this has been sorted, I am thinking about putting in a claim for compensation. Am I right in saying that due to RAC sending me documents with an inaccurate claim on and adding a premium to my policy, this is a form of libel? And of course the slanderous remarks assuming that as my sister and I are twins, we would share the same car?

Any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Apart from a bit of relatively minor stress, what losses have you suffered?

    No.

How is that damaging to your reputation?

Can I hand you this mildly updated version of what I said somewhere up there...
Twins. So same date of birth.
    Same surname, at a guess?
    Same gender.
Is there a risk of confusion between your initials?

You can, I'm sure, see how such confusion could arise.

    Hi Adrian,

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
I take your comments in board about libel and slander, I don't know much about the legal side so thanks for the info! I haven't had any major losses, just my time and the stress. Again thanks for your view.

I understand that as twins, we may get mixed up from time to time but the mix up had not been sorted in a timely fashion and that is my issue. I've been passed from pillar to post through no fault of mine and just want this whole situation resolved.

    Here's another thought...

How many people do you think use the "It wasn't me, it was my twin - honest!" line to try to avoid consequences?

Probably often but in my case, there has been a mix up between my twin and I. Perks of being a twin eh! :D

Sure, but how are the insurers meant to know the difference?

Work with them, not against them, and the resolution will be quicker and easier.

In my case they should have known the difference as my sister and I have different first names (Felicity and Nichola) and had our seperate policy numbers. Human error I guess! Yep, agree about working with them. Just want to get it sorted out now! Haha

Good to have an update. Forget about your stress and bother; have you investigated what the RAC has recorded with respect to the cancellation of your policy?

Several of us have told you that this is what you should be really worrying about. If they have, wrongly, recorded that they cancelled your insurance because you made an incorrect declaration, this would likely very substantially increase your future premiums with any insurer.

That is what you need to sort out.
