Sony Ericsson T630 - unlock?

My girlfriend has just bought the above phone on Virgin. Does anyone have any unlocking info on this phone? I also undesrtand that Virgin will let you unlock after you have spent a certain amount of money - does anyone know how much? Thanks.

you can get it unlocked for about £10 in a shop, if you spend £30 or more on top-ups Virgin will do the honours

Thanks for the response Browntoa - are there no online unlock codes for this phone? Will Virgin charge for unlocking after she's spent her £30?

(I'd just bought her the cheap Nokia 1100 to discover she's ordered the T630 ! Oh well, someone else will have to benefit from the 1100 offer instead! )

I'm told Virgin do it for free, but I'm under the imression that this is a cable unlock only so I would hunt down a shop or someone at a boot fair that can do it

virgin will do it free after £30 credit spend
it can be unlocked with a t28 cable and a server credit
the credit is about £5 and cable about £10 (if you havent got one)
or i will do it by post for the cost of the credit and postage if your stuck (so i wont be making anything)

Thank you drahcir - very kind. I will ask my girlfriend what she wishes to do. She is actually using Virgin at the moment so it may well be that she will wait until she has spent the £30 will will prevent you the hassle. But one question if I may - given that this seems to require a cable how are Virgin able to do it - does the phone have to be sent back to them? Can it be done at Virgin shops for free after spending the £30 ? Thanks!

to be honest im not sure how they will do these, it may still be a code that only they have access too (like voda and motorola have a database of most of their phones unlocking codes)

Thanks. Unless I hear of an unlock code for the Sony Ericsson T630 beforehand, my girlfriend will just wait til she's spent £30 (probably just a month or so anyway!) and get it unlocked by Virgin!
