if you have heard that win 8.1 is better , then stick with it , however if more people suggest that win 10 is better , then follow that thinking.
PS: windows 10 is FREE , yup FREE as an upgrade till later this year , then (sob) you will have to pay for it.Save a Rachael

Where does it say it will cost to upgrade later this year?"If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

It doesn't ... yet. MS have only so far confirmed that the free upgrade to Win 10 is available for a year (from around the end of July 2015). Once we get to the end of July 2016 then who knows what will happen.0

No contest Win 8.1 is not better than 10 .
Some might prefer 8.1 just as some don't want to upgrade from Win 3.1 .0 -
It wouldn't surprise me if MS extend that free update window a bit nearer the expiry date, they are so keen to get everybody onto 10. I'm still resisting as I'm very happy with 7 on my workstation and laptops. I'm even coping well with 8.1 on our his & hers Dell Ultrabooks.... Get windows 10....Far better than 8.1 and anything that's gone before it.
I've just done an 8 year old HP/Compaq notebook (originally Vista) and it's flying again now. So you should have no problems with an 8.1.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I've just bought a cheap HP notebook from Sainsbury's (won't set the world alight in terms of performance but it'll do what I want it to do) and Windows 10 seems infinitely better than Windows 8.1.
And it's head and shoulders above Windows Vista *shudder*.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I really must think about doing a fresh install of Win 10 ... I'm still running the upgrade from Win 7.0
