Car Accident on holiday - having issues claiming back the Excess

Hi everyone,
In the summer I was involved in an accident in my hire car while on holiday in Cyprus. We had booked the car through Monarch and had paid the additional premium for the Excess Waiver coverage. We thought everything was fine and so on returning our car to the rental place paid the excess (900 euro) for the damage and understood we could claim this back on returning to the UK.
In the original insurance document we were told to contact AXA if we had a claim, which we did but we have had emails back from both CarTrawler and Liberty insurance each time just asking for the same information and going round in circles. The accident was in August so this has been going on for almost 6 months now! Just wondering if anyone else had had issues claiming this money back with any of these companies and had any advice about how to escalate/get things sorted.
Thanks,
Alice
