Is there any possibility that the bike would fail its 2nd MOT if it still had masking or a converter on the headlight?
The reason I'm wondering about this is that although these converters make the headlight suitable for use in the UK and a bile would pass the MOT with one fitted, the actual wording in the MOT manual is:Masks or converter kits.
Right hand dip headlights can be temporarily
altered for use in the UK by fitting masks or converter kits which remove the beam “kick up” to the right.
If the use of a converter is noted on the MOT, might an over zealous tester decide that having one fitted for a year means that the beam hasn't been "temporarily altered"?0 -

I had that very discussion with a tester regarding my Unimog.
He was happy that it was 'temporarily masked while used in the UK'
That was a tester at a major HGV station where I had to take it for it's first MOT before registration.
Subsequent tests were not a problem.0 -
If possible get the french V5 equivalent with the bikes. This will remove the need to get a dating certificate required by the DVLA.
Over 10 years old means no need for CoC.
And who mentioned mirrors?I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0 -

BUT the bike does not comply with UK regs and if in an accident the insurers, if they get wind of it, will use this to wriggle out of their liability!0

The speedometer doesn't appear to be part of an MOT test for class 1 & 2 vehicles.

But it must comply with regulation 35, The Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1968.0 -

Tape the lights up or disconnect them if you're worried about a failure.
You will simply get an advisory stating that it can only be used during the hours of daylight.
Often called a daylight MOTChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
