We've just had the Aldi Wagyu Beef burgers for tea. They're delicious, they're very thick so took about 20 mins to cook but absolutely worth it. I served them on the Aldi Brioche burger buns with lettuce, gherkins, tomato, mayo and american mustard. I will definitely buy them again, not cheap at 2.99 for 2 but they were the best burgers we've had in years.
  • Has anyone tried the chocolate covered Stollen bites from Aldi

Yes I have! They were nice - Daughters didn't like them because the chocolate was not very sweet - I liked them though! Also bought the apple stollen but that wasn't nice IMO - very artificially almondy.

  • Mince pies!
NOT the "cheapie" ones that are IIRC 79p/pk6 but the (are you ready for this?) Specially Sellected All Butter Cognac Laced pack of 6 at £1-29.
    Red/black/gold packaging.
Very, very nice for a shop-bought mince pie.

Also bought some of their mini stollen, I think £1-99 ............. which I have so far resisted eating.
I will try these soon, to compare with the Lidl ones which the whole household adores.

I did see these the other day but being sugar-free I walked straight past - unlike previous years when I went to extraordinary lengths to track them down :D

What's the expiry date on the pack you bought? Depending on how many weeks and later availability, I'll hold off until next month so I can at least serve them to others at Christmas.

  • Mine say 5th December so a month sounds about right.
There's no way mine would sit even as long as the BBE - these really are scrummy. :o

Now the mini stollen ........... gorgeous!
Great taste and LOADS of marzipan, just note that the pesky dusting can resemble a blizzard so be wary.
What I didn't like: the recipe contains palm oil, whereas Lidl's dont; the Lidl mini stollen are made with butter.
    But that taste ...........

Purely on taste then, an Aldi win.

I wouldn't worry too much about BBE dates - I was still eating last Christmas's in August! They were fine - both the Aldi ones and the Waitrose ones. :D

My regular beer for years has been Newcastle Brown.
Aldi have a North Bridge Brown Ale (new product ?) that is clearly marketed at Newcastle Brown ale drinkers.
    It's very nice.
Possibly exactly the same or a very close match.
    Maybe even prefer it.
The price definately makes it taste better as it is only £1.19 for a 500ml bottle.

Our Aldi had lots of new 500ml ales plus they had around 5 330ml craft beers of different types for 99p. Great to see them stocking these.

As per the title and on offer this week for £3.99......well I have just had it for my tea and it was absolutely delicious...and good amounts..did as a main meal for me and OH.....hth x

Thanks for that recommendation. I'd more or less given up buying pre-prepared Peking duck as it often disappoints but the Aldi one, as you say, is really very good and the price is amazing compared with the equivalents at Sainsbury's and Tesco!

Just don't put the pancakes in the microwave for two minutes like my boyfriend did :rotfl:. Luckily, we were able to have rice instead!
