Aldi's "Spice Infusion" cous cous has really gone downhill. They changed the packaging about 9 months ago and the contents seemed to change at the same time.

A lot less dried carrot and almost no flavour (previously tasted on coriander and other spices). Hardly worth buying now, I might as well just get plain cous cous (which Aldi don't actually sell).

I've just bought the ordinary couscous from Aldi, and the giant. Plain couscous is 59p a pack (500g I think). Giant couscous is 89p. It's with the rest of the couscous, pasta, etc., if your store has it. Mine isn't a big Aldi, so any sized Aldi should have these.

You have to try these things, but, yes, the law of diminishing returns often sets in.

Generally speaking, Aldi always comes up trumps with its luxury items (its premium steaks, for example), so much so that it's a real surprise when it fails.

It was perhaps not so surprising that it’s gin and tonic crisps on sale last Christmas were unpalatable. Has anyone tried the flavoured (chocolate orange and salted caramel) luxury mince pies this year? I haven’t bought any thus far.

I bought the Lidl vegetarian Wellingtons this year - picked the mushroom and Stilton over the mature cheese and spinach - but haven’t tried them yet. Any reviews?

Also I spotted some rhubarb and ginger, and Scottish strawberry gin by Hortus in
    Lidl yesterday...any good?

Just a quick heads up for anyone wanting to use Aldi's online ordering service for Specialbuys. I placed an order last week for one of last Thursday's Specialbuys, and it's just arrived.
It's one of the microfleece blankets with sleeves, and it's gorgeous, if your store has them I do recommend them as a lovely gift, or present to yourself. My heated throw has ceased to heat, so this is a low-tech alternative.
If you want a Specialbuys present and it's in stock online, I would order sooner, rather than later. Postage is free, unless you want express delivery.

I try not to eat too much cheese through the year but wanted some for Christmas as a treat.

Disappointing that Lidl seem not to stock Emmental any more except in slices. I know the pack had shrunk last time I bought some but now it's disappeared!

I wanted some Bavarian smoked too but that's only in slices.

Is this the influence of cheeseburgers?;)

Reluctantly, I'll have to go to Sainsbury's or Waitrose.:(

I quite like the cheese slices - it's an easy way not eat too much. :)

The Lidl Mature Cheddar Slices are very nice, and good VFM at £1.35, although they are sometimes a little crumbly.

Cheese slices are easier when making toasties too.

That's the theory in this house too, although it doesn't work with OH who grabs a slice of Edam or Gouda each time he passes the fridge. Oh well, we all have good intentions... Apparently it is possible be addicted to cheese but he doesn't let it worry him :)

I bought a box of Lidl’s Deluxe cranberry stuffing to try

    Disgusting

Would have been better off eating the box

Thanks for the cheese comments. I suppose as I wanted a cheeseboard treat I hadn't thought of slices being convenient.:)
