Asbestos garage roof

Morning all
I have a garage with an asbestos roof that has been leaking for some time. I understand risks etc so no posts telling me how dangerous it is to drill etc please.
We have tried patching up etc but the time has come to get it replaced or sealed/covered. I have seen specialist coatings but they are only available for commercial application. I would consider removal but the roof stretches across both mine and neighbours garage and she is not interested in making any repairs to her side.
Can anyone advise on the options available or recommend a contractor in or around north London/Hertfordshire who can assist?
Thanks.

Are you sure it's asbestos? they are usually cement fibre board, check with your ouncil for removal of the roof if it is.0

Tour best bet is to replace it. To dispose of the current roof, contact ur local council. Only requirement is to double bag it in strong plastic and then either they collect for small fee or u can take it to local council waste collection center. If u can't remove yourself ask any handyman who maybe willing to remove and then put in double bag..0

It's not the only requirement. It has to be removed safely for which there is a procedure, or may require a licenced contractor.Tour best bet is to replace it. Any further in on this "procedure" or does it simply says be careful not to break sheets or damage or drill!!!
HSE has some decent guidance sheets on removal it's all fairly straighforward and selfexplanatory http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/guidance/a14.pdf.
OP - Before you load up your car and take a trip to the local tip check first that they will take it. Our local tip used to but since the Council outsourced the service to a private company they no longer take asbestos, you now have to phone the Council and pay them to take it away.
EDIT
Forgot to add; if you pay someone else to do the work for you then they are operating as a business and will have employee H&S considerations so may take a more cautious (expensive) approach.0 -
As said above, double bag and take to you local council, being roofing sheets that mightn't be practical without braking them up, which you don't really want to do. Take a trip to you local tip and have a word, in a tip near me, the asbestos bin is a big metal box with a lid on, they might take it as panels with out bagging.
Also prob best to hire a van, you don't want that crap in your car0 -
when i was doing a construction course, someone told a story about the council. they said, about getting rid of asbestos,
'your not allowed to break, dill or anything like that and bag it'.
however the builder said we havent got bags bigger enough,
the council says ok you can break it up then..
the mind boggles ha ha“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

Your local council website should give details of which of their tips can handle asbestos waste and the procedures needed.0

Our local tip charge a minimum of £9-50, as I have a piece about 6 inches by 9 inches I find this ridiculous for trying to do the right thing0

Hi,
I have the same problem, have tried different products to seal it, but only lasts a winter then cracks during summer and is leaking again next winter.
I have this type of garage roof,
think it's called asbestos profile.
My house was only built in 1994, so I doubt that they would be able to use asbestos then, so think it will be asbestos cement sheets.
Would you,
a) rip it off and redo with coruline/onduline,
b) sheet with board and cover with EPDM, or
c) cheapest option, cover with heavy duty tarpaulin?
Hope OP doesn't mind my questions, but as we have a similar problem, the replies might help him also.
Thanks.0
