Malwarebytes didn't even touch the PUA. Avira sees it but as yet - hasn't removed it - I am running a full scan

You've probably sorted it by now but if not run CCleaner and try a Deep Scan with the free version of Zemana Antimalware.

This scrapes out stuff that Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro and the like seem to to miss.

Thanks - Yes - it is gone and I think that I picked it up in a download of 7-zip from Softpedia - they obviously think that we all want free addons !!

You might want to look at Unchecky to help avoid inadvertently downloading cr*pware in future.

I use Handbrake which is a great programme but can be confusing to use at first (well it was to me anyway).

There is a tutorial here which I found helpful.

For some reason I have yet to fathom, Handbrake sometimes increases the size of the video instead of reducing it.

If this happens then move the Quality slider from default 20 to 25. The higher the number the smaller the file but the greater reduction in quality.

This can happen because the video file you are encoded is already compressed, so you are effectively changing the compression. If the compression you choose is less than what it already is, then the file size will increase.

Changing the quality slider increases the compression rate, which reduces the file size, but also reduces the video quality

I am looking for video compression freeware that I can use to losslessly reduce the size of a folder of videos by about 33%
Video file formats tend to already be compressed, I suspect you'll be doing well to get a further reduction of 33% lossessly.

    Good luck though.
