Video compression freeware

I am looking for video compression freeware that I can use to losslessly reduce the size of a folder of videos by about 33% - I must be able to state the desired folder size - so Freemake is no good !!
Freemake may be infected - Avira blocked the download anyway !!

SUPER from eRightSoft is very powerful, but be aware you cannot realistically LOSSLESSLY reduce pretty much any consumer video format (they're all MPEG variants, usually). You can transcode at a lower bitrate and may not be able to notice the difference, but this is not the same as lossless, which has a very specific meaning in compression terms :-)

I use Handbrake which is a great programme but can be confusing to use at first (well it was to me anyway).

There is a tutorial here which I found helpful.

For some reason I have yet to fathom, Handbrake sometimes increases the size of the video instead of reducing it.

If this happens then move the Quality slider from default 20 to 25. The higher the number the smaller the file but the greater reduction in quality.

Technically speaking OpenCandy is not actually malware as it actually asks your permission to install, albeit in a covert sort of way and very often in the EULA, which of course everybody reads ;).

Probably strictly classified as a PUP.

    But whatever it’s called it’s a PITA.

I tried "freemake" and ended up with Opencandy firmly embedded on my C: drive !!
Avira has detected the PUA but so far has failed to dispose of it - it keeps on popping up as a warning
I have tried Revo Pro uninstaller - but what program am I looking for to uninstall ?
Freemake, itself has already been vanquished - and Revo doesn't list either freeemake or opencandy as being installed
    'C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Low\IE\ZU9BXZJL\FreemakeVideoConverterSetup.exe
Is inaccessible from Windows AND cmd - so I am unable to delete it manually !

Just run Malwarebytes to get rid of Open Candy.
Are you really still working in IT support?
    Move along, nothing to see.

Malwarebytes didn't even touch the PUA
Avira sees it but as yet - hasn't removed it - I am running a full scan

Todays Giveaway of the day is a video transcoder. I tried it and it will reduce the size of videos but it certainly isn't lossless and doesn't offer a gtreat deal of control over exactly what output you will get. Worth a look though IMO. You will need to download and install before midnight tonight 17 Jan 2016
