Great news! Now all you have to do is catch up with the eighty pages of the slow cooker recipes thread :):D

i know i'm having a spasm just looking at all the recipes, plus the other websites recommended althoug i'm not really sure on one thing how much water/stock to put in the bottom as it didn't come with instructions so not sure how much to use. the cooker is a 6.5 i think(its big)

A bit less liquid than for a casserole is the usual advice, and to only just cover things is the other. Then, towards the end, you can thicken the sauce if it needs it.

I recently bought a book on Amazon (if I can find it, it appears to have gone walkies) and in it the author recommends using half the quantity of stock or liquid you would if cooking conventionally because there's no evaporation in the slow cooker method.

I'll have to go look for it as it's a good book and written for English users too rather than Americans and wasn't too expensive.

Edit: found the book under a pile of papers! ... it's New Recipes for your Slo-Cooker by Annette Yates - ISBN 0-572-02636-6 - and was under £10. Great recipes in it and not all casseroles, also includes puddings/deserts and soups/stock and lots more! :)

I've posted it before so I'm sure it's in the index somewhere, but basically place the chicken on a bed of onions (and garlic if you like) and a small amount of stock/wine and cook for 6-7 hours on low. I make a paste from olive oil, paprika, salt 'n' pepper to rub over it first to give the bronzed appearance of a roasted chicken and it also adds to the flavour :)

Go to the blue Index in my signature - then goto slow cooker recipes - and there you'll find one :)
