Woohoo i saw an advert in the paper yesterday someones selling 2 slow cookers, i'm going to have a look today but i'm not really sure what i'm looking for in a 'used' slowcooker (or even a new one!)
They where advertising a large and small one so not really sure which one i'll go for yet, but is there any type of gadgetry i need on it ie timers etc.

Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts

The size you need is really dependant not just how many you are cooking for but how many "extra" meals you might want to make for the freezer. For one person a three-four litre one is plenty, for two or more a six litre one might be better.
If it has a timer so much the better, because that would let you leave it to start at the right time to be perfect for when you get home from work or a day out. (Not that overcooking is a problem with most slow cookers)
If it doesn't - Curry's have a cheap one at £3-4 if you need it.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Hmmm, not to sure about that Squeaky, I can cook a meal for 5 quite happily in a smaller one.
But the things you should be looking for are at least a high, low and auto switch.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

welll there are 2 adults, 1 toddler (sparrow eater) and a 10mo (pig) hubby is as thin as a rake and eats like a horse so will probably need the bigger one plus then i can double up and freeze some.Other women want a boob job. The advantages of a large one over a smaller one: you could make smaller portions, pop it in a traditional casserole dish to fit inside the SC with a few inches of water.
A small one, is a small one, is a small one! If you want "bigger" portions, you'd need to use it twice :rotfl:
High, Low, Auto settings are versatile, but you could get away with High and Low only.
Take the pot out before you buy it ... check for any cracks!
Ask them to plug it in and turn it on for a few moments to check it actually works
Have FUN with it~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you do not like it when you view it ....
... simply say: "Thank you, unfortunately, it wasn't what I was hoping for."
Don't be nervous; even if you're quivering like a jelly inside, look confident on the outside - you don't want the seller to notice your nerves and try and sweet talk you into buying something you do not want.
Ultimately - it's *your* money; you are in control!

and I long since got into the habit of cooking in larger pots so that I could always put something away for a day when I didn't feel like cooking.
