My son sent me two meter readings and asked me to see how much he has used already ,but I can't find out how much ,he is with eon
The readings are ..in KWH. Was 14706 and is now 14818

How do I get the cost please

    Gas meters don't register in kWh.

    Those readings are either hundreds of cubic feet or cubic meters, so that it the first question that you need to ask your son.

    A quick guide is that if it is an imperial meter then multiply by 32 to get a near enough kWh figure and if it is a metric meter multiply by 11.

    Then a simple calculation with give the cost depending on the suppliers tariff and region.

    Ask him to send you a picture of the meter..

    112 units is 1260KWH
    You need to multiply this by unit rate and the daily standing charge

    You don't really need to if the meter has M3 on it as that is metric. To post a picture you need to upload it to a hosting site e.g. tinypic, photobucket and post the link on the forum.

    This online calculator here will do the work for you.

    The pic was to confirm if it is indeed a metric gas meter. If he is sure it is then just find out what is his plan rates and the days between the two readings.

    So if for example the unit rate is 3.5p/KWh and standing charge of 22p/day and readings were over 30 days then:

    1260 * 3.5p = £44.10 (Gas usage)
    30 days * 22p = £6.60 (Standing Charge)
    Total = £50.70
