Help! Is it worth phoning 3?

I have lost my job and can no longer really afford my phone bill...I have until December this year left but I was wondering if Anyone has experience in asking service providers to shrink their contract?
Thanks in advance!

I've no experience of this myself and hopefully someone who does can offer some advice, but of course it is worth giving them a phone. You will probably have to pay a fee (you have signed a legally binding contract after all) but if you are not leaving 3 and just changing to a cheaper contract (instead of cancelling), they might be more helpful.

It's always worth phoning up and pleading for some good nature. Escalate if necessary and explain cap in hand. Some of the stuff in here may be worth trying as well although for a customer service related exist (Ofcom's reforms) you'd have to try that first thing as it won't look great if you complain after initially requesting an early exit.

I would put it in writing to Three Glasgow address, third party customer service prob wont help.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
  • Worth calling them. I certainly cannot see why you can't knock things of your bundle, reducing to a lower cost. Good luck! :)

I agree with the other posts, only that you make it sound like you will not get another job in the near future.

I have known them lower a contract cost 3 months in to a contract. I'm sure they will be able to lower it to £10 I usually find it easier to go into a 3 shop if you can. There sales staff have the ability to play around with contracts more. Mind you with my recent experience be careful what you sign. But I agree with the other threads make it sound like you're unlikely to get another job soon. Good luck I hope you get something sorted, with the phone and getting another Job

To be blunt, its almost certain that they won't, since everyone would be claiming the same grounds (financial problems) if they did. Death or bankruptcy are the only ways to void your contract without penalty. If a smartphone, sell the handset and use the proceeds for the future bills, and use an old cheapie handset in the meantime.
However by all means ask, as you have nothing to lose.

They have done it for us before, so worth a try. This was a few years ago, so things might be different now. But you have nothing to loose. Good luck with it
