    Yup.
Let's see what happens with 3 and O2 as this pretty much sets a precedence.
Sky buying Voda has also been mooted...so I think it's going to be interesting.

Nowadays, many people want to get their landline, mobile, internet and entertainment from a single source. These mergers will continue.

It's also nonsensical to have four mobile networks that duplicate services in most areas but which fail to cover the whole country either individually or collectively. Eventually, there will be consolidation to a single network infrastructure run separately from all the companies which supply service to customers. In this situation, the regulator can better specify coverage requirements.

Doubt 3 will get approval, unless they say a 50/50 2G ownership and 3/4G licence resell, 3 want that 2G network but I doubt they will allow 3 to offload the obligation of 95% of the UK population by the end of 2017 for the 800mhz 4G coverage licence.

Unless they keep o2 800mhz licence with current 3 4G coverage, beef it up and off hive the original 3 4G licence. Then there is 3G and 2G.

A shared 2G network would allow a equal footing, its unlikely but not impossible.

Rupert wont have billions to buy Vodafone, Jerry will be buying clothes not companies :rotfl:

Either of Murdoch two major companies could buy Vodafone, you just initially for a few years give free subscriptions to News Corp digital content then charge a little per publication...the news market is shrinking worse than a man in cold water lol so yes buying a major like Voda could well be a long term strategy to sell its digital content.

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out in terms of overall strategy. BT are riding a wave in terms of BT Sport so with the acquisition of EE and the Infinity wave they are riding there is a lot of attention on them.

Ironically, BT just got the Daily Mail wooden spoon for customer service which they've admitted and taken on the chin.

I've posted this before, 4 companies 1 backhaul, infill with UMA, picocells and wifi calling, companies compete on coverage.

Fibre allows picocell tech to flourish, and BT know it. May well see the next BT home hub with BT Fon become a wifi and picocell router. More coverage more places, more customers, more money whilst competing with the others. Vodafone already have Fibre (Cable and Wireless) mobile, and just need to build a Vifi network.

3 and o2 need broadband and wifi, o2 wifi is poor in comparison to BT, I would expect the next ISP to go into administration bought by 3 or o2 or whatever 2 companies are left if 3 buy o2.
