Keep mobile number

Hi all,

I've been using cashback mobile contract deals for some time, and my current mobile contract ends soon, but the new deal I want to jump to is with the same network (TalkMobile).

So I can't use my PAC to transfer my number to the new contract, since its with the same network.

I could transfer my number over to a PAYG sim and then transfer it back to the new contract.

Any tips on which network would be best for this? Ideally one that would not require top-up.

Thanks in advance

Yes. Transfer to some other network, wait a week or so and then transfer again, back to the original network.

Pick a temporary network that uses different infrastructure.

You'll need to top up with £10 so treat that as the cost of getting the better deal - and make sure you use it all up.

My OH used an EE SIM from Poundland (currently on Ebay for 99p) to move her number to as it came with £5 of credit to use for a few days so she appeared to call from her own number then got a PAC to transfer the number back.

You had to spend £1 (of the £5) on a call pack which was 25 minutes and 50 texts for one week. This is more than enough time to move the number back. The rest of the £4 credit can be donated to charity.

With Talkmobile you used to have to use the PAC at the point of ordering -0 so would have to have shifted networks and got the new network PAC before you order. That may have changed, but it used to be impossible to change the number with this network afterwards.
