If you can download them (maybe on another computer), it would be worth running adwCleaner, which should fix your browser settings:

If the problem is not browser specific i.e. it affects all browsers, then as suggested by debitcardmayhem, the odds are on it being a hosts file problem.
See here for tutorial on how to re-set the hosts file.0 -
Try an incognito session - that has adblockers (and extensions which may track you) etc disabled.
If no joy still, you can just delete or comment the lines in your hosts0 -
Was it Google interest based ads by any chance?
If so reset settings again.
