Disabled ads, how do I workaround.

I've done something, can't remember what, to disable targeted ads appearing in my browser. This has the desired effect however it also prevents me clicking through,for example, from uswitch pages or sponsored adds in google searches.
Can some bright person help me remove the setting I've altered.

uninstall your adblocker?
I have firefox locked down tight, no adverts and no cross scripting or
running of any scripts unless i allow them.
I have google chrome with just an adblocker.
I have Opera for to access sites blocked by ISPs
And i have IE which is totally standard nothing blocked.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

A hosts file was installed (not that one), however the ad issue predates the host file.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

In that case, you should be able to create a new browser profile which won't have this setting applied by default.
