A good prize for a 14 year old?

How much is a ticket to a local football match? Sometimes as low as £5 for kids. Or Rugby.
I just really dislike chocolate being offered as a prize and wouldn't be too happy if my son came home with a hamper full of sugary crap.
Average premier league tickets are now over £30 each and Rugby can be even more. We all know sweets are unhealthy but £8 isn't much to entice a load of 14 year old boys to buy a 50p raffle ticket. Given that demographic, I doubt you'd shift many tickets with a fruit basket prize on offer! ( but £8 would buy a lot of greengrocery with Aldi's Super 6 :rotfl:)0 -

i agree, if the main target audience is 14-year old boys, I do think a big basket of chocolate is more likely to get boys handing over their 50p's as its a prize most of them would like to win - anything else and you're into boys' interest in that specific thing (cinema, bowling, sports tickets).0 -
If anything is donated by a company, remind him to write to thank them, preferably saying how much was raised as a result. They are more likely to donate again in the future if they receive a thank you letter.0

Is there a major football club nearby? Our school always gets signed shirts and balls for the Christmas Fair just by writing a simple letter.0

Get a game DLC code for either xbox or PSN if its for a specific game which has a DLC drop very soon and is massively popular with kids that age they will shift loads of 50p tickets. I think that DLC costs about £8 as well

I'd get a local cinema or bowling centre to donate a pair of tickets and use the #8 for runner up prizes of chocolate to encourage more ticket sales with more chances to win.
(I used to work as a manager at a bowling centre - we were usually happy to donate a few games of bowling to local charities so long as the person asking had proof it was for an event -in this case a letter on school headed paper would do the trick)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I'm mean & evil. (I have this on three excellent authorities, aged between 13-16 just at home).
I'd set up an Exam Kit.
Clear plastic pencil case
pencils
sharpener
eraser
blue biros
black biros
short ruler
pack of polos/dextrolsol if you can afford it
and if I have any pennies left over possibly a lottery ticket, but that is a little unkind. Maybe a lucky charm, or small toy.
Then (possibly) label it "as used by" <insert faintly credible hero's name here>
However, I have to say for teenage boys? I'd see Just How Much chocolate I could stack...0 -
Not planning a new career as a charity fundraiser I hope

The idea is to sell tickets to the kids not their parents LOLDigForVictory wrote: »I'm mean & evil. (I have this on three excellent authorities, aged between 13-16 just at home).

Would one of the senior teachers agree for the winner to wet sponge or cream-pie-in-face them ?
Then smaller runner up prizes as well.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20
