I had to submit some creative work to an organisation. The deadline was Friday. I did it yesterday and gave my excuses. It was another frog. I am beginning to feel worn out at facing up to difficult stuff. :o My workman comes tomorrow morning. He will be putting up a blind in my kitchen and a few other jobs. I will be picking his brains too. I hope to get some contacts from him.

On Sunday I was out and about at IK3A with a friend. We also went to a car boot sale. I had a great day but it was a day the house was ignored so my home is a disgrace. I am off work today so I will improve this situation.

This is a busy week work-wise so I need to keep up. I think I will get my case out and begin packing so I am not in a mad rush when I go away

I tried to open a new account but they wanted a phone number before I could make an appointment and I still don’t have a phone. I am thinking of a credit union account but I found it hard to access my money last time and if there was an emergency it might be an issue. My existing bank has savings accounts but when I use them it is too easy to access the funds. I need to think about this…

Dave Ramsey says £500 or £1,000 but I think I will try and keep £100 in cash in the house as a mini emergency fund too

I don't know why, but my £8,800 debt figure is annoying me. It has only been a few weeks at that level but I am ready to see it drop again.

I have healthy food in. I have fruit, veggies, soups, natural yoghurt and salad stuff. I am therefore eating well :)

I have a lot on this week so I need to be organised but all is well so far

I hope your week is going well too :)

  • I keep £200 in Bank of England notes in the house just in case. It was so useful when dd was sent to London to look after DS when he broke both wrists. The fact that it was spent eating out in places like wahaca is neither here nor there. You never know when bank systems might fail so a small amount of cash is good.

Keeping an amount of cash in the house is a great idea. It's something I don't do but will change. You never know.

I have a credit union account which does transfer money electronically but it's done the next working day which is a bit of a pain but stops frivolous spending. It's a pain to pay money in. It's either cash over the counter or electronically with a £10 max deposit, what use is that. :o Good luck with finding the right account for you.

Your debt is coming down amazingly well and your mortgage free. Don't forget you inspire us lesser mortals. :T

Thanks people, so helpful. :) I will be keeping an emergency account in the house. A small amount in the credit union (I will check for the life insurance INOD) for now and then this will be used to build my 3-6 month savings at a later date. I will use one of my own bank's savings accounts but I will be changing my attitude to dipping in when it is not an emergency!

An edgy day for me so I haven’t achieved much. But hey ho, every day cannot be about achievement.

I have been listening to Dave Ramsey whilst I pottered. He makes sense. I need to get my emergency savings in place. I do.

I am going away for my Oxford residential course soon and I am wondering how I can stretch my money that week as evening meals will have to be purchased. It will be fine, but it has made me realise I have been struggling financially for such a long time.

I have attended some great things, but I have worried about purchasing an outfit. Or I have been to events where I have been hungry and insisted I was fine with a coffee whilst others ate around me.

I’m not feeling sorry for myself. I am very lucky to have had so many invites to so many great things. I am just realising I will soon(ish) be debt free and then for the first time in decades I will be able to go somewhere nice and not worry about clothes or transport costs or food and drink.

And won’t that be nice :)

I hope you had a good day reader :)

Awww, thanks INOD and Parsniphead :)

I had a workman come today. As he was due I tackled the yucky cupboard under the sink. I have avoided this cupboard for a year! Now it is clean and sparkly :)

He charges £25 an hour which I think is expensive, but just for 1 hour suits me as I can put up with him 1 hour. He is very good and works well. He put up a blind in my kitchen. It will be nice not to be looked in at. He also put up a mirror with a small shelf in the loo. He checked the pipes under my sink. The waste pipe needs a new collar apparently so I will add that to the list for a plumber when I eventually get one

The whole experience was stress free.

I had my teeth cleaned by the hygienist. Twenty minutes for £54! But cheaper than implants so I choose to look at it that. I had a good report that my teeth and gums have improved. I have changed my toothbrush to an automatic round head and begun adding interdentals dipped in water with a few drops of tea tree oil. I told the hygienist and she said whatever I am doing it is working so keep doing it. I am dropping to 4 months now instead of 3 saving £54 a year :money:

Treated myself to a cup of tea and £10 meal deal. Frozen most of the meal. I always get potato rostis and freeze them as they are delicious for a weekend brekkie with and egg on top and a giant mushroom

I walked to save 2 bus fares :money:

A good day for me where I did what I said I would and all went well :)

I hope you had a good day too reader
