Having a problem switching to SSE, Talk talk etc (and presumably others) from FUEL using the online forms as apparently I am a 'mpf' connection or something
Is this a common problem ? Im thinking its so they avoid online affiliate fees as perhaps it costs them more to do the switchover ?
Is it a tactic to make switching harder or an honest problem ?

Probably a MPF customer (Metalic path facility), it means your 'line' has been fully unbundled...it should still be possible to move to another provider, but it would appear that the ones you have chosen to enquire with, don't have much of a clue how to do this
On line forms probably won't work well as the current number won't be a 'BT' number, these providers only seem to be set up to take over lines from BT not from other LLU/MPF providers..try calling them or chose a provider that knows what they are doing0 -
Thanks. Yes that was the term and problem. They said they could switch me over the phone but then I will miss the online affiliate discount, so I will need to have a rethink.

It may well not be a case of them not knowing how to, it might be that the two CP's involved may not have a porting agreement set up to port number between the two of them.
Sky LLU and Talk Talk LLU never used to, that may have changed now though.0 -
If the don't have an agreement does this mean you can't switch between them ?0

You can switch anywhere you like, it just means you can't keep your existing number.0

I had the same problem. I am currently with TalkTalk, and SSE's deal with Quido cashback looked good, but their website wouldn't accept my phone number, so I phoned them and they said they could take my order over the phone, but I obviously wouldn't get the cashback.
That makes no sense at all to me. If they can take my order with no problems over the phone, why can't they do so online? Sounds like a way of avoiding paying out cashback to me.
I have not had this problem with any other provider, only SSE. All other provider's websites accept my number with no problems.0 -

I have read before that this can be a problem switching from LLU services. If I switch from TalkTalk LLU to fibre, how likely am I to lose my current number? I guess to a large extent it depends on who you are switching to and the agreements in place between the two providers.0 -

I have switched to plusnet which went fine via the net. I guess since they are BT.
Maybe I worked my figures wrong but I reckon I could have got SSE for about £8.80 / month for 18 month if including my quidco affiliate fee, but the online form wouldnt accept my number. So had to settle for plusnet at around £13.800 -
Interestingly, on SSE's page on Quidco I noticed that they have only got one review, while most other providers offering cashback on there have got many more reviews. With cashback they're offering very competitive prices, so I'm surprised more people haven't signed up.
Makes me wonder if they're fobbing a lot of people off over the cashback.0 -

Depends who's going to be providing you with "fibre". like you say, it's more to do with the relevant CP's having an agreement in place to accept porting of numbers between the two networks rather than the broadband delivery method to your house.0
