Thanks for sticking up for me Rich.. I'm getting so tired of being trolled on MSE !. BTW, my friend kindly lent me some money in the end so I have a comfy new mattress now.. I can't believe how much the old one was aggravating my arthritis, I am sleeping so well on my new one

Sorry to hear about that.
In Wales we still have a 'Discretionary Assistance Fund' which helped me pay for my fridge, cooker, settee and bed when I moved in to my own place.
Pleased you got it sorted in the end though.
