grants for a new mattress?

My mattress is in a really bad way and I desperately need a new one. Are there any grants to help? I used to use the community care grant but it has been abolished.
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

The only one now is the budgeting loan but you need to be claiming certain income related benefits for at least 26 weeks to be able to have this. It also needs to be paid back. If so how much you would get will depend on your circumstances. I.E Married/single/ have kids or not.

You could have a look at "turn to us" they have a section on grants etc.

Is it a medical mattress like an air-Flo or one to fit a hospital bed or is it just a new mattress for a regular bed?

You can pick up decent second hand mattresses cheaply on Ebay or look out for something locally on Freegle or similar.
  • Have you ever worked or been a member of a trade union? Often these types of organisations have benevolent funds which may be able to help.

it is just a regular mattress, not a hospital one. I would need an orthopedic one though as I have arthritis

You live round East Midlands at all? My Dad is forever finding mattresses and beds at auctions.

It's worth looking on the MSE Ebay local deals site, as in our area there was an electric bed, complete with unused mattress (as the user chose to buy a different one to that provided with the bed), going for about £30, near the ending time.
