  • Does anyone know if I could get on at Wolverhampton and go to London? It's on the same route?

It's not on the same route unless they're on diversion at weekends. And, this is only a Monday - Friday deal.

I tried this myself as I'm from Wolves.

Coundn't find any way to do it. I ended up paying about £75 for two adults return on fri 21st dec. Think thats the cheapest "yule" get.

  • I usually go to London with Chiltern, on the £15 fare, which is £9.90 with a rail card but you do have to change trains, either in Birmingham or somewhere else I can't remember right now!

I thought all the Manchester trains to London went through Wolves. Oh well. :)

You can use the Cross Country Service (use to be Virgin but changed to someone else in November and cannot recall who? Could be First or Arriva?). Anyhow, from Wolverhampton you have a number of options as to where you change to Chiltern:

Birmingham New Street and walk to Moor Street (approx 5 - 10 mins)
    Leamington Spa
    Banbury; or,
    Bicester North.

Chiltern then runs into London Marylebone. Depends where you want to go in London but Marylebone is only a little over a mile from Euston so not too much different in arrival location.

Manchester - Euston trains do not normally run through either Wolverhampton or Birmingham. They run down through Stockport, Macclesfield, Crewe, Stoke, Lichfield, Tamworth, etc, etc before joining with the Wolverhampton trains at Rugby.
  • I use the Manchester to London Euston service and can confirm that most days, the train leaves Manchester, stops at only Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent and then arrives at Euston. On the return journey, it again stops at only these stops.

Spoke to an old friend who works with virgin trains and he says these fares will be continued throughout the year.
