Virgin Train £1 to London

MSE UPDATE 27 SEP - the Virgin website seems to be having a few techical glitches so may not work at the moment. It should be fine tomorrow so please check back if it doesn't work for you today.

Insert By Martin

There are dirt cheap tickets on the superfast Manchester - London Virgin trains (and thus great for anyone in England's SE who wants to go to the NW and vice-versa).

Virgin likes to push out these promotional fares, and its made cheaper by the fact you print your tickets at home (or get it on your mobile). The cheapest fares are £1 each way, but these are scarce, yet lots are around for £3 or £7 still a bargain. To get them just go to the special Virgin Trains page.

Thanks to MoneySaver Greytroot for spotting it.

Afraid its only valid from Manchester upto 26 October. Not many seats but from a £1 well worth it.

    This is a good deal

IF you have AMex, Visa, Switch or Mastercard

If like me all you have is Solo or visa electron your !!!!!!ed, you cant even get someone else to pay as leading passenger has to be on card and you have to produce bank card with ticket!

Really annoyed with this as its just ruin a fabulous weekend we had planned

Well done if you can take advantage of this offer

Could you not use a family members card and ask if you can take it on the journey?

Well you could, but it would mean puting one of the tickets in whoevers card it is' name, and in my case i would need to keep card all over the weekend meaning the card owner wouldnt be able to use it.

  • Just wondering if they will release more dates.
Is it that they only release tickets so far in advance or that the promotion ends on the 14th??

I was hoping to use tickets when we visit relatives on the 19th

I got some for 4 pound return bargain! Does anyone know if there are more dates!
    Who needs a sig!!! :rotfl:
  • Anyone looking to travel to/from further north, don't forget that Manchester Piccadilly is served by Megatrain as far north as Edinburgh for similar bargain prices. As that part of the megatrain network is served by Virgin, you may even find tickets where you don't have to change trains halfway.

  • I don't know if this is any help but I found a good deal for trains online a month or so ago but I couldn't pay online with my solo card so I printed it out and took it too my local train station and got the same deal and paid in cash!!!
  • Offer is now extended to 26 October, hopefully they will do this on a very regular basis.
