Just checked my experian report online and noticed a sim only deal has appeared on there as a new account, bit surprised about this as I didn't have to go through a credit check to get it, but another one that I got from a different company which did credit check me hasn't appeared on there, the one that hasn't appeared on there I got about 2 weeks before the one that has, how long does it normally take for them to appear and is it normal practice for accounts to appear on credit reports even though you didn't need to be credit checked to get it.

Quite normal. Not all mobile suppliers report to all CRAs, not all suppliers report all accounts. To get the full picture you need to look at all 3 reports.0

The same here. Got some accounts that show on some of the credit agencies but not on others. It depends who they report to.0

I have just checked the other two call credit and equifax and it isn't on there either, so maybe they haven't put it on the reports yet or they just don't bother with it, is it worth a phone call to them?.0

I don't know where you got the idea you weren't credit checked for a sim only deal, as you would have been. This has always been the case.

The only one that does not require a credit check is a PAYG sim that you top up by card/at supermarkets etc in order to have phone credit to make calls etc.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Just been on the phone to them and after being chucked from one person too another i finally got an answer and they said they report to both equifax and experian but could take 3 months for them to show on the reports, not sure how much truth is in this as my other sim only from a different company is on there 3 weeks after opening it.0

I think you are getting 'credit search' confused with 'reporting to a credit reference agency'. Some will search your file but not report, some will not search but report (utility companies tend to not search but report)some will do both, and of course some will do neither. Just because they said they don't do a credit check doesn't mean they won't report f you do or don't pay on time. Keep up the payments and it won't hurt your credit history0

Fair play I just hope these do report to my credit files as that's the reason I got it, to help build my credit up.0

And don't forget, companies do not need your consent to slap you with a credit search, nor to report your account to the credit reference agencies.0

Who is the mobile company? The one that has gone on as a new account I don't see why it won't be updated.
From personal experience Vodafone, O2 and Three all report to Experian at least, not sure about EE, Virgin mobile (virgin media certainly do not sure if they treat here as different entities thouh) and any others.0
