    Yes, looks like you did.

Well, the first four posters certainly read it the same way as I did. (And were the ones making the helpful suggestions as well;)

To be fair, the OP is a bit ambiguous. It mentions spending a few days in Lyon specifically rather than France, but then says they are prepared to travel and make it a two weeks holiday which frankly could indeed mean anywhere in France and futher afield in which case, there will be 100s of options!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Being ambiguous as I don't know what's achievable, typical, fun or a nightmare from a Lyon starting point. Which is why I'm asking for starting points which others recommend as there truly are 100s of options.

And wondering if there is enough to turn it into the annual holiday.

I think I only envisaged a plane to/from Lyon. No internal flights.

There is enough for an annual holiday.

If you look at the rail map

    http://www.bonjourlafrance.com/france-trains/tgv-lyon-bourgogne-franche-comte/images/tgv_map_lyon_marseille_toulon_nice.jpg

You can east go to Annecy for a lakes/mountains holiday.

South to Nimes for the Pont Du Gard and the Camargue.

Further south east for Provence and the coast to Hyeres.

Further South West for Languedoc Rousillon, Pyrenees, Costa Brava.

Fly into LYS and fly home from somewhere else. Lots of airports in the area Nimes, Beziers, Montpellier, Perpignan, Marseille, Avignon, Toulon.

The train service is good https://www.bahn.de is great for times, the French sncf website will sell you tickets in Euros saving you money. There are trains back to St Pancras with a passport stop at Lille.

Car hire is possible at many railway stations as well as airports.

There are tons of things to do from Lyon, going in all 4 directions, although East and South would be preferable. It's an open book depending on what it is you are looking to do, ie. travel for 10 days or find somewhere and stay put, looking for an adventure or a quiet hols. Either way, you can do anything you fancy from there. You can go from Lyon to the South of France, ie, the sea in less than 1 hour 1/2 on the TGV. You can go to the Alps in less than an hour.
