Number of connections per exchange

We live in a rural area - our exchange is not LLU

My friend/near neighbour is with Plusnet (I get his referral 25p!)

BT have told him that he will get a faster internet connection with them as "there are already 50 (?) people using plusnet at your exchange. If you switch to BT, there won't be that restriction"

I told him that they were bullshineing him.

I am right ... aren't I??

:)

Only way to tell is to test it. Probably a load of crap though. If they sign up a few extra customers it could mean there are more sharing the BT side thant the Plusnet one. Although plusnet and BT are the same people. do they share equipment?

As we are not LLU, doesn't everyone share the same equipment??

PN and BT share the same racks, so it's nonsense.

It depends on the contention ratio that both companies use and also if there is any congestion or not on the back haul.

It won't change the sync speed though as they both use the same DSLAM
