I was told an item was dispatched on the 11th (morning). However, the package came today stamped the 12th. Would the item be stamped the same day or is there a chance it would be stamped the next day?
I was supposed to get it on the 12th so want to know if they lied or there was a possible delay in stamping it.
Thanks.

I suppose that the seller may have taken it to the post office on the 11th but missed the last collection so it may have sat in the local PO overnight.0

If the seller used drop and go, the post office may not have processed it until the next day0

If it was posted after the last collection then it wouldn't be processed/date stamped until the next day. My last collection in my local sub post office is 1600 or there about but the office is open until 17.300

Well they said they'd dispatched it in the morning (before 10am). It's a business seller though so might not have been the exact time they actually dispatched, but should have been well before last collection.0

When I used to do Drop and Go at the Post Office, often even if I dropped them off in the morning, they would not be done till the following day. Or the seller may have marked it as dispatched but not got to the Post Office till later in the day. Or it may have fallen out a mail bag and not gone till later in the day. If they have post collected from their place of business it may not have been till much later in the day. Anything could have happened and you really do not know who is at fault for the delay in it being stamped.
As long as the buyer used the postage method you paid for then I would just forget it and move on.0 -

I always mark my items as despatched once I have packed and labelled them. This is often first thing in the morning but I take all my post to the PO in the afternoon.0 -

Well I half expected it to be marked dispatched last week. Even if they did do that on the 11th it should have been dispatched and stamped on the 11th as it was before last collection.0 -

I don't think I'm making myself clear here. Let me try again.
Let's say the seller packed his parcels on the morning of the 11th then marks them as despatched. He doesn't go straight to the post office in the morning because he usually receives more orders in the day which he will pack and mark 'despatched' as they come in.
Then off he goes in the afternoon to the post office as he always does at say 4.00pm but due to road works, car breakdown, neighbour keeping him talking for ten minutes or whatever, arrives at the PO at 4.35pm instead of the usual 4.20pm. Unfortunately the last collection was at 4.30pm and he's just missed it. His packages sit in the local PO until first collection the next day.0
