Please recommend a current account for me

I bank with cahoot for my current account and they pay zero interest. Its also difficult to get access to cash if i loose my bank card therefore i feel its time to change. Can anyone recommend another current account for me .
I want one which has NO charges for banking and will provide a cheque book. I dont want a santander account.
I want interest paid regularly even if there is a month where i pay nothing into the account and obviously I want good customer service and a reliable website. A nice looking debit card would be a bonus :D

There is a "Best Bank Accounts" link right at the top of the page, with plenty of choices for you.

Would you seriously want any bank to take a laissez-faire attitude with your money in the event of you losing your card?

I think tesco is the only one pay interest even there is nothing pay in the account?
However, all you need to do is getting 2 current a/c and move the money around when you have nothing to pay into it.

Such an account with everything you require doesn't exist. You want monthly interest on a nil balance?

What do you mean ? There have been times when cahoot block my card because of suspicious activity or I have lost it. In these cases I have had no access to cash because the bank does not have any branches. The alternative they give is that they can courier me several thousand pounds which is too much money for me to keep at home. I have had enough of this.

I have noticed accounts which pay no interest when you pay nothing in . I would an account which pays interest when you have any amount of money in the account regardless of whether money has been paid in during the month

All banks block cards if there is suspicious activity; and rightly so. And again you mention that they block it when you lose it. And again I reiterate: would you seriously wish them not to block the card in the event of you losing it? Your logic, to me, seems somewhat flawed.

In post#2 you were advised that the Tesco current account does pay interest regardless of whether it is funded in any given month. You can have two of these and you can keep a maximum amount of £3000 in each.

Although I have many other current accounts, my main account was always with Cahoot. I switched that to Tesco last year when Cahoot removed the interest paid.

I've been very happy with them and their app is one of the best.

Simple answer, don't lose your card! I agree any bank would take the responsible step of cancelling a lost card.

I was with Cahoot 15 years and never experienced a problem with getting access to my money
