Weds 13 jan 2016. What small dfw stuff will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

    Thanks for the starter Maria. I'm just off to bed but before I go thought I'd pop in.

    Just a modest list today.

    * Went to work. And very ghastly it was too. Won't bore you but work is in a state of great change just now and it's doing my head in. :o Too many chiefs, not enough Indians in our place. One more day and it's the weekend. Phew.

    * Took a packed lunch made by OH. Alas the meat was off so I had to bin it. Spend £2.10 on scampi and chips in the canteen instead. I couldn't work for ten hours on an empty stomach.

    * Covered car windscreen with old shower curtain to prevent it icing. This works to an extent and saves on de-icer.

    * Read the news online.

    How about you lovely people?

  • Morning, drags self in sleepily. Didnt have a good night, restless for some reason. Busy day too.

    Morning maria & ally :wave: thanks for starting the thread maria :A

    CLF how did the shoes fit? Hope they bring nothing but joy :D

    Hope lo (and you!) managed to have a good sleep last night. I don't know if you remember but dgd got up at 4am for the longest time - about a year. It was exhausting but I just adjusted and got used to it. Now though she sleeps from 7.30 till anywhere between 6.30-8. It doesn't last long and she's always been her happiest first thing in the morning so when she would be looking at me with those big doe eyes and grin my heart would melt and it didn't matter however early it was :smileyhea

    Hi to everyone who follows :wave: lovely to see lots of new posters x

    Small things for today - looks like it's going to be another day at home as although dgd is 95% better than she was she still has a temperature so lots of fluids, resting and indoor games I think :)

    * [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]remind oh about the £9 he owes the overpayment pot[/STRIKE] he's put in £6 so just £3 to go...
    * phone up about the broadband transfer - this has been going on for months!
    * all meals from stores
    *[STRIKE] read martin's email[/STRIKE]
    * flylady dgd's bedroom
    * [STRIKE]fold up washing on dryer and hang up washing in machine[/STRIKE]
    * reading & knitting for entertainment
    * check through fridge to make sure nothing is wasted
    * [STRIKE]check meal plan for tonight and tomorrow and make sure anything needed comes out of the freezer[/STRIKE]
    * do my meditations - 2 different exercises I need to do twice each day. They only take a couple of minutes but I never seem to find the time to do the 2nd lot. Today is the day I will be victorious! :rotfl:

    Ok that's all I can think of at this point! Have a great day everyone x

    Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning

    Thanks for the start Maria. Has the lambing started yet by the way?

    Yorkshire - sorry to hear you had another bad night.

    Much better last night here. Up for quick feeds at 2 and 4 then at 6 got her up for the day.

    Had a quick read of my favorite blogger The non Consumer advocate. Her topic was roadkill this morning :)

    I am going to make a pasta bake for dinner with more of the chorizo. Nice and easy tonight.

    Will be off for a walk about later then the school run. Really enjoy the exercise and fresh air.

    Oh and I almost forgot. Today I made the final £306 repayment to HMRC for PAYE I was behind on. I've been paying since last March and it's a huge sum to have extra per month. It's a business debt, the last from the bad period. So its a bit of a watershed moment in many ways.

    Have a good day everyone.
