Vodafone Pay As You Go Voucher Scam

Feeling very silly... Today I received a text saying it was from Sarah, and that she had been taken into hospital and needed a favour. Upset on her behalf, I, of course, agreed to the favour - buying a £20 Vodafone top up voucher and texting her the code. So far so stupid, but I then went on to do ANOTHER one after she told me it took £15 for her 'extras'.
In hindsight it's clearly ridiculous.
So I've called Vodafone who cancelled one of the vouchers (the other had been used already), but for some reason, despite the fact they know it's been cancelled, they aren't able to offer any form of refund.

I was just wondering if there's any way out of this, or if anyone had any advice that isn't don't be so naive next time!

Thank you.

  • Yes, but I think they just used a common name. Unfortunate coincidence that I know someone called that.
