How many houses did you view?

First time buyers, we saw about 30 in 3 months. At least we knew we'd found the right place as soon as we walked through the door, so didn't hang about, and didn't quibble about paying over asking for it. Still happy we did (have seen nothing better on rightmove in the 18 months since!).0

First time round - about 40houses, we were looking around a stamp duty threshold & keen to buy something below it that would easily jump past it if we spent money... Didn't want to be not wanting to spend money because we worried we wouldn't get over threshold.
Next time we looked at about 8,
This time we've viewed 12; literally everything that has come on the market in our price range and area since July!0 -
I think with sites such as rightmove and zoopla it's easier to "view" many more properties these days... a combination of photos, floorplans, google streetview and bing's birdseye view means you can get a pretty good idea of a house without leaving the sofa, and that means you can be a bit more discriminating when it comes to physical viewings.
There were loads of places that we looked at online and knew weren't right which 20yrs ago we might have gone to view in person.0 -
I viewed one and offered, but was outbid, so viewed a second one, and bought it.
Unfortunately I aspire to a minimum of something worth about 3 times what I could afford, so everything's a compromise.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I'm in the process of buying my fourth viewing.. I was sceptical from the rightmove ad, but I knew as soon as I walked in that I wanted it.:www: Progress Report :www:
Offer accepted: £107'000
Deposit: £23'000
Mortgage approved for: £84'000
Exchanged: 2/3/16
:T ... complete on 9/3/16 ... :T0 -
2 - BIG mistake, next time I will view lots after buying a lemon.0

I viewed at least ten in Woking, nearly bought one but pulled out, and had an offer rejected on another. We then upped our budget by borrowing from the BoMaD, started looking in a different town, and then bought the first one we saw.
I learned an awful lot about how crummy houses can be made to look great in photos, and exactly what lies both vendors and estate agents will tell you direct to your face. Most of the houses I saw at the lower budget were poky little holes. The third "bedroom" in particular was often just a large cupboard.0 -
We looked at about 25 from the outside, but only viewed about 10 inside.0

The first one, mainly due to budget and on my own with a low wage (not easy to find), I could have gone for a better/bigger one if I borrowed my maximum mortgage amount - I was thinking more of repayments.
I wish I waited a bit more now though, bought in 2007 at peak then crash (couldn't predict that) but it was more I can only afford X amount, I was 25 and still living with my parents and bought the first house without major upgrades.
Can't say I'm fussed on this house and would love to move on but can't be bothered re-mortgaging when my repayments are low, negative equity and maybe hard to sell.0 -
I, like pastures new, as a FTB cant get estate agents to give me the time of day.
everytime i ring the estate agents the house has sold, gone up in price or gone over to the weird bidding system where you pay the fees...? what is that? or they say its on the homewise scheme.
So so far i have not seen a single one! Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0
