Yes, as I was a first time customer, and under the finance regs you have the right to close an account and have all history removed within 14 days or something, so I'd never exist on there records

The account would still exist on their records but it doesn't matter as the terms don't say you have to be a new customer, they just say you can't have had a switch incentive before.
  • Hi, I have had a Classic TSB account for years, at least 16 years and shockingly I am now only starting to begin looking at switching accounts.

Can I apply for this account and its incentives or will I not qualify as I have an account for such a long time?

Also if I can switch I understand it automatially switches my DDs, does it also with my pay ins such as my wages or is that my responsibilty?

    Thanks

Your question has already been answered in the thread, and in the referenced T&Cs (link in the 1st post).

Yes it does, or more accurately it's designed to do by 36 month redirection. However, I wouldn't rely on it. I'd be telling my salary/pension/benefits payers myself.

    ok thanks for that.

I have never received any incentive or switched before so I can therefore switch from my classic tsb account to this new offer? I think I read the t&cs correctly.

No, you'd need to open a Plus account and switch an account held elsewhere (outside TSB) into it.
  • Ok, thanks for that. I'll just look elsewhere now.

This is so annoying as i've already got two classic plus accounts with TSB :(

The only way i can benefit from the offer is to close both of them down and apply for a new current account. However with the new T&Cs i can only get hold of one sole classic plus account this time which doesn't make it worth it long term.

It's real a shame that they don't allow existing TSB customers to switch an external current account over for the offer. Sadly there's not much that can be done with the very restrictive T&Cs.
  • I would also like to know the answer to the the direct debit question. Given you have opened the account during the correct time and used to the link and transferred an account, do you also need the direct debits to be in that account so they can get transferred along too? Or can you just transfer a current account with your monthly salary and set up the direct debit accounts as new direct debits on this new tsb account? I have an account but no direct debits on it, but I can easily set up new direct debits. I only wonder if doing it this way would still qualify me for the £100 switching bonus...
    Thanks in advance!

Say the T&Cs stated: As part of the switch transfer all active credits and debits which must include a minimum of 2 active Direct Debits from your old account - - would you think you would need to have 2 DDs on the account you switch? What do your T&Cs say?
  • I've just done the account switch to TSB using the link etc and made sure i'm fully eligble, once you've switched I couldn't find any mention whether I was guaranteed the £100 or confirmation of when I'd get it.

Is it just a case of simply waiting until the date specified to see if the £100 turns up? Haven't used a switching bonus before!
