My thoughts exactly, although I'm on the way to bagging HSBC this time around.

I'm hoping this current account war hots up enough to tempt NatWest, RBS, & Barclays to make a move. It's about the only chance I have of making anything!
  • I applied for the TSB account on Saturday night (stupidly!) and have never been a customer before. Didn't do the CASS, just wanted the 5%. Can i close the account and re-open and do a switch?
  • Does any know if you can close a recently opened account with TSB and re-open to get the £100 incentive?

It has been suggested this can be done, although you can't 're-open' the account you closed!

If you read the linked TSB offer in #1 you should get an idea of your eligibility but on the basic premis of closing an account then applying as a new customer could work but then again they could reject you for any number of reasons!

what exactly does "open through MSE" mean. I have to click on the link at the top of the thread, yes ? - though this is Moneysupermarket link

I already have a number of these a/c's, though received no incentive (other than the 5% interest.).

I would ? be eligible to open another ? and receive the £100 ?

How do I know if I have "allowed cookies" ?

You must be 18 or over and a UK resident to apply. The Classic Plus account is restricted to one account in your sole name, and another Plus account in joint names.

Note to self ! Read the T&Cs. As I already have these accounts,, they may be a little reluctant to give me £100 to open another

  • I just rang TSB as I only opened the account on Saturday, they will not allow backdating the offer, you need to visit a branch, close your recently opened account and open a new one. Not worth the faff when there are many other switcher accounts in my opinion

TSB actually said they'd give you £100 if you did that ??
  • Yes, as I was a first time customer, and under the finance regs you have the right to close an account and have all history removed within 14 days or something, so I'd never exist on there records
