NO-SPENDING-FOR-A-YEAR wrote: »Afternoon all,
So back to Noddle, my score is 3/5 (583) - how would I go about raising my credit score??
Never mind about the "score"...My credit is very good but my score is 2/5 (556) which would appear to be poor but I know it's not. I can afford all of my repayments. There are no late payment markers and certainly no defaults. I have 6 credit cards, 2 loans and 18 current accounts showing on my credit report.
It seems the only people to get a top score are those that don't actually use credit and therefore owe nothing.
I need credit cards to be able to purchase items with confidence that if the supplier goes out of business I have recourse against the credit card provider instead so closing all my credit cards down is not an option.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Thank you MJ - that's reassuring to know as I'd wrongly assumed I'd have a 'better' score in light of always paying and on time ( so similarly to yourself no late payment markers or defaults )- at least I can kind of forget about my credit score for now as hopefully if I continue as I always have done I won't have any problems should we be faced with applying for a mortgage.LOAN £3000 ONLY £200 LEFT TO PAY ☺ * CC1 2600 ONLY £2150 LEFT TO PAY * CC2 1500 ONLY £800 LEFT TO PAY *CC3 1800 ONLY £1000 * CC4* £2400 ALL PAID OFF-WOO HOO☺- CATALOGUE 200 ONLY £90 LEFT TO PAY.

Thanks asparagus, yes it does make you wonder, a ploy maybe to get you to buy into 'how to raise your score' or maybe i'm just getting cynical in my old age!!!LOAN £3000 ONLY £200 LEFT TO PAY ☺ * CC1 2600 ONLY £2150 LEFT TO PAY * CC2 1500 ONLY £800 LEFT TO PAY *CC3 1800 ONLY £1000 * CC4* £2400 ALL PAID OFF-WOO HOO☺- CATALOGUE 200 ONLY £90 LEFT TO PAY.

So I've made it to Wednesday, two days left until the next 'week' of allowed cash spends - hopefully I can keep finances in check til then!!
NSD yesterday & my £10 note from Monday is still in tact - woo hoo - long may it remain that way ☺
£20 already allocated this week for DD's school stuff that needs paying for so that's ticked off the list.
Free delivery code sent through from Morries, so food shopping this week will be an online as I'm pretty busy this week & a few health issues mean I'm not really on top form at the mo.
Must start looking for car/house ins quotes shortly as both due for renewal next month!!

Hello Lou,
You've not updated for a while. Hope everything is ok with you.

Hey Nicola,
Thank you for checking in - it's been a couple of funny old weeks!!!
Well, aside from DH (who now has a stinking cold), we seem to be on the up, a few ongoing health issues have been zapped and just as I was feeling brigher DD2 & my good self managed to grab ourselves a sickness bug ( I really don't do sick graciously, lol!!), throw in GCSE mocks (DD1), a really tight work schedule (due to my team being poorly pups too), DH increasing his hours and ongoing clearing and cleaning, I just don't know where the time has gone!!
Soooooooooooooooo, the garden had a good clearing over the weekend, the weather was stunning and hopefully my vit D has been boosted with the amount of time spent outdoors, few plants moved out as they were getting a tad wild and a few others popped in (speculated £2 on 4 primroses just to add a bit of colour to one of the beds - non essential for sure, but completely worth it!)
I'm sure I'm not the only one but I am seriously rubbish about predicting how long jobs are going to take me - it's a standing joke with DH!! I wake up and think ok today I'm going to clear the loft, under the stairs, change the beds, do all the ironing, clean the house, re-tile the roof (lol) and i'll be finished by lunchtime!!!, needless to say I never quite achieve what is in real terms pretty impossible, lololol ☺
Food shopping has been on budget and have been racking up the 'more' points at Morries & have so far received £25 in £5 vouchers which are being saved for the 'Christmas' shop - also have £15 in savings stamps too, so I'm most happy that £40 already saved and it's only March (shame we haven't saved anything for actual Christmas gifts, oops)
Debt payments still on track & now DH has added some permanent extra overtime shifts (he'll be pooped bless him) we hope to save all of the overtime into the 'house' pot, it's been a dream for such a long time I can barely believe we may just be able to achieve it next year (if the housing bill gets passed and all)
My cupboard under my stairs I've decided is masquerading as the 'Tardis' - since before Christmas I've been literally throwing all prospective Eb@y items in there to the point that I could no longer jam the hoover or cleaning stuff in, so my rationale yesterday was to stuff said items into the Attic of dread and then work my way through it from there, well I can hardly believe how much stuff had to be moved and I only had an hour to spend doing it , so his job will need to re-addressed at some point shortly - I could kick myself how I seem to continually make the same mistakes, if I'd either put it in the loft, recycled, Eb@yed or charity shopped it in the first place I wouldn't have created this other job that now needs tackling - will I ever learn!!!
Anyway, £5 in my purse plus a few coins to last until Friday, it's gotta last as it's a long old month this one!!LOAN £3000 ONLY £200 LEFT TO PAY ☺ * CC1 2600 ONLY £2150 LEFT TO PAY * CC2 1500 ONLY £800 LEFT TO PAY *CC3 1800 ONLY £1000 * CC4* £2400 ALL PAID OFF-WOO HOO☺- CATALOGUE 200 ONLY £90 LEFT TO PAY.

There you are

Good to "see" you.
I also have an eBay/gumtree stash. Been selling locally thru facebook too -it's a buy and sell local group. Might be worth checking that out. It seems faster - don't know why that is ..
The "that'll take 20 mins (but actually takes 2 hours)" - another characteristic we share .....
Take care

Hey Nicola (and any other lovely lurkers ☺)
Glad it's not just me with the unrealistic time management skills - I think it may be a case of 'wishful thinking' that I can do things far quicker than I actually can............
So, had to fetch some meds today so sadly the best laid plans of a NSD didn't quite go to plan, fortunately only a fiver though and definitely essential.
Had a little wander over to the fly lady thread and I definitely need to sort out a daily/weekly/monthly schedule (#in my best singing voice# - "procrastination") - plus I will be able to apply it to de-cluttering too.
I'm gradually realizing it makes more sense to plan to do something that takes 5-10 minutes daily rather than leave it and then it takes 2 hrs (LBM maybe!!!!)
A realistic goal I think will be to try to sort 'One something' per evening (cupboard, drawer, shelf etc.) and earmark sortables into Trash, charity, sell or recycle (and NOT stash it in a cupboard for future sorting.....)
Eb@y have kindly given me 100 free listings until the end of March so I have to get organized and get listing - I'm going to give myself a target of £20 by the end of the month & very much hope it will be more - I'll update my signature accordingly.
Change of plan since yesterday with DH's OT shift money going into house pot - we've decided it makes more sense to use it to pay off the outstanding debt so from our calculations and by even more scrimping, saving & Eb@ying, it looks as though we could be debt free by June/July time - I can't believe it!!!!!!!
Have a lovely afternoon ☺
