No spending for a year ???

How can it be Monday again???
Well, I'm amazed how quickly January has zipped by, payday is in sight (Friday) and unlike most Januarys I'm not financially frantic and climbing the walls.
The last few weeks have been a revelation with regards to spending just cash rather than 'just sticking it on the card' and hoping for the best (which really hasn't worked for me!!!) - I've allowed myself an amount per week and when it's gone it's gone!!
I've had to be quite controlled about what situation's I've put myself in so as to not have to spend too much.
I've checked my online bank this morning and I will be £61 overdrawn by payday, that in itself is a miracle as I was expecting around £150ish, next month I hope to half it and be done with overdrafts by March - yay!!
Asparagus 1968, what a fab idea about freezing the packed lunches, making the sandwiches is one of my pet hates (along with cleaning the bathroom!!) so I shall be definitely be giving that a go, and you can never have enough mint sauce, lol!!
Have a good day

Amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it.
I only use cash now. It's def better and easier. If I've got got cash in purse, then I can afford it. If I haven't, then I cant. Much easier. I'Be been working Friday to Friday and , even though I feel I have spent a fair few pounds, I haven't withdrawn last Friday's yet so..... Go Me!This will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0 -
Btw - I was also embarrassed but now I'm not. We've overspent - that's it. It would have been even more embarrassing to get deeper and deeper in it just to save face. It was maybe a bit easier for me because OH made the mess and I could just blame him.....This will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0

Just wondering - what sandwich filling do you or can you freeze? I currently make lunch with frozen bread and put in fridge with filling each day but if i can make it a week in advance that would be even better

just finished my sunday night jobs:)
tip of the day from me- I now make up 5 days worth of lunch rolls and freeze them, just take them out day by day, they are fully defrosted by lunchtime.I love not making packed lunches every day!
here's to a good week for us all x0 -
I use ham, beef, chicken or cheese.

Thank you, I shall be mostly opting for cheese this week as that's what DD's prefer plus the only ham I have left is already in the freezer !!
Well I've £2.12 left from my £10 which has to last me until Friday, can't think I need to buy anything else this week but the best laid plans and all - will be a massive psychological achievement if I can make it to the end of the week without spending any more.
£10 paid off of catalogue from Eb@y proceeds so down to £110 - all heading in the right direction.

Hi there, don't know if you already do this, but I highly recommend using www.topcashback.co.uk for all sorts of online shopping/ insurances.
Did my house insurance this morning, so thought I'd give it a mention

Good morning all.
Tad blustery this morning, enough to blow cobwebs, hair, make-up and coat away !!!
Asparagus, thank you for the heads up on 'topcashback' is it similar to Quidco? as I've just registered on there? I shall most definitely take a look as both my house & car insurance are due in March (and I've not been happy with car ins so will def be changing)
Well I had a bit of a hiccup last night and ended up spending £10 more than I'd hoped (I knew my DD's would be my Achilles heel and a bit of bad planning also thrown in for good measure!) - bobbed into Kentucky chick chick en route to (pre paid cinema outing) - something the kids and I usually do, so last night it felt the right thing to do to feel 'normal'(if that makes sense!!)
Defnitely not essential spends but then I've offset it against the things I would have bought this week but haven't ( beautiful trousers in the sale that I picked up and put back more than once, scrummy goodies in Te5co that were calling my name but I walked straight past with a knot of sadness in my tummy, the stunning blouse, perfect for work that I convinced myself I wouldn't want as everyone would be wearing it, let alone the comp game DD2 was desperate for and the refusal to sub DD2 on a shopping trip with friends) - £10 in comparison is pretty damn good I guess.
Anyway, opinions please, with the little trickle of eb@y money I'm hoping will pootle in should I be paying it against the now £71 overdraft or against the £110 catalogue bill (no interest on either & as it's a small amount the eb@y money will hopefully make a little dent)
((note to self - get eb@ying for goodness sake!!)
Lunch today Soup (from many tins at the back of the cupboard, nearly out of date proving how long they've been back there!!) with roll & fruit from home - gotta stay on the eating plan straight and narrow too.
Roll on the day when I'm debt free & have a body like a supermodel rather than a bag of sand, lol!!!! (I won't hold my breath on the latter!!)

Well done Lou. Be proud! No new trousers. And no goodies..... The trousers would be too big soon anyway 😊
If it were me, I would pay the overdraft. Then I would vow to stay within my available money. It's also smaller. Downside though is that is free flowing whereas if you pay catalogue, when it's finished it's finished.
Well done though. I need to eBay too. I keeping setting myself a month to do it but I never follow through 😕This will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0 -
Thank you lovely, exactly what I thought, by next week the trousers would of been hanging off of me, lol!!
Eb@y and I have a love hate relationship - I LOVE it when items are up for auction and the money is rolling in and my mobile is cha changing with bids and payments but I HATE getting started with the listings as it can be soooooooooooooo long winded.
I did think it was maybe better dealing with the overdraft first and then deal with the catalogue (all pretty hypothetical until I actually get some eb@y stuff listed!!) - learning to not go overdrawn in the first place with be an education over the forthcoming months.
