  • Hi All!

Today we've got a playdate with a friend at the playcentre - I'm determined not to order lunch like we usually do, so I'm busy packing up my DS2's lunch and sneaking in some snacks for me (you're allowed to take in food for a baby but not for yourself. Stupid rule if you ask me lol) plus having a big sarnie from stores before I go. I'm also:

:D Doing a big dog walk somewhere nice this afternoon
:D Going for a run for free exercise
:D Sorting out the online food shop via mysupermarket according to the meal plan I've got set for the next month
    :D All meals from stores
    :D Aim for a NSD
:D Calling United Utilities to challenge our water bill that's shot up from £33 pcm to £144 pcm since we moved
:D Calling council re-council tax bill at the old property that they still think we're liable for

I think that's it for me, other than lots of jobs at home once DS2's tucked up for his nap later.

    Debbie

Managed virtually everything on my list, plus cleaning the fishtank and doing 4:eek::eek: loads of washing (all hung on airers and radiators :D). HOWEVER, I'm so frustrated at council tax and united utilities - both are in my OHs name and neither would speak to me about the bills. I know it's their job and they need to be secure blah blah but it'll take him weeks to ring and get around to challenging them :mad::mad::mad:

  • Hi all

Sorry I have read through but not absorbed anything. Sooo tired tonight and unlike Bob I dont have a little person keeping me awake. Its just busy at work and like everyone else I am feeling the affects of this constant gloom.

Hugs to those struggling with OHs who are bad with money. Some years ago DH and I agreed that I would completely manage our joint finances and he just gets a small weekly cash allowance. Anything else he wants to buy he will ask me. This arrangement will sound odd to some but it works for us, the only downside being that I am solely responsible for making it all add up. However, I like to be in control!

I managed to get washing nearly dry outside today. Picked a couple of YS bits in the supermarket on the way home. £5 spent that will do us 2 teas as well as bread and some bananas. Hm soup for lunch, roast pork for tea - pork was reduced in Li*l before Christmas and has been in the freezer.

Jim jams and bed for me soon I think.

Morning Ally. Thanks for starting us off, :hello: to all that follow

Working from home this morning, then meeting a friend from work for a 'meeting' I haven't done this for ages and really looking forward to it as we can have a catch up too. My list should be a bit better today as I'll have a little more time (in theory :rotfl:)

Washing on 30 overnight, towels now in TD but mainly done on cheap rate, caught another wash on cheap as DD was up early (every cloud and all that :rotfl:)
Few small bits of washing on rads whilst it's on for 30 mins
    Check banking, update sheet
    Try for PAD
    1poll
    £co
Upload receipt to app, must do this got out of the habit
Run, must do this. Plan to go after school run..
Meals from stores, some of left over Christmas park to make a curry. Going to try cauli rice for the first time

Think that's about all, have a good day everyone. J x

Done my list :j I also called the tax office with a query I had as I believe I'm due a rebate. You know it's going to be a pointless call when I say : I've found the form in PDF but can I complete online? And the lady said : what's a pdf?

Despite this, I have all the info I need I think so hopefully I can get that done in the next couple of days

I also need to investigate making a draught excluder, front door has a gap round it at the bottom, we have an internal door too so house not cold but porch we use for storage is freezing and a bit damp. We don't use front door and don't want to replace until new porch is built so think a draught excluder might just be a stop gap.

determined, do hope your dgd is better soon, good nights sleep works wonders. Sure Bob would agree (hope it's better tonight Bob) J x

I feel your pain Debbie, because I have been there, and it took forever to sort anything out. For this reason, all household bills are now in my name. Although why on earth they cannot be joint responsibilities I have no idea - after all, it is common enough to have joint bank accounts, and for the bills to be paid from these.
  • I agree with everyone else tonight with feeling tired and full of January blues. Think I'll go to bed now...

I drink lots of water and hot drinks as I find lack of sleep is very dehydrating. I try and keep going as much as I can because I don't find sitting down very restful anyway. A long walk in the fresh air does me good.

She does have her own basket and we prefer her to sleep in it but we Co slept a lot with son after taking in the advice they give, so if she ends up in with us a bit for the sake of sleep I'm not going to worry too much.

    Night :)
