Hi

I have cancelled a phone contract with Orange and got a PAC, but my son has now decided he's not bothered about keeping his number. I was told to use the PAC before 3rd February, what happens now that we no longer need to use it? Do I need to re-contact Orange?

TIA

    you loose it !!!

however some companies will say that your contact is still valid until you use it , and bill you.

buy/locate a PAYG sim , put minimum credit on it then port the number over in order to keep it , DO NOT buy a monthly package , just a PAYG X pence per call , most operators let you retain the credit and number providing one call is made in "x" months

in your case , not wanting the number I would re contact orange and double check , as they may not cancel the contract until its ported

If you don't use the PAC the contract will just continue on a month to month basis, it will not cancel. You have 2 choices, get a free PAYG sim and transfer the number to the sim or phone Orange back and give them notice to terminate the number.

I am pretty sure it's all, not some.

    They won't, not may not.
And, most likely, they will start a new 30-days' notice period and will charge for it if you contact them again. So the first suggestion to port it to some free PAYG sim was much better, and you don't need any credit for porting a number in.

Not bothered or wants a new number? If the former, port it to the new contract regardless.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

After sitting on the phone to orange last night for ages without being answered I'm going to make him use the PAC.

    Thanks again.

Issuing a PAC will void the notice to cancel, you can't do both. The PAC will expire in 30 days and the contract continues, unless you contact Orange and give notice to cancel again.

Some networks give bonus credit or bundle when you port your number over to them. Delight for example.
